At Delfín, we believe that progress is only possible by protecting natural resources and that our well-being, as well as that of future generations, requires a tremendous amount of effort from everyone. Our duty is to change the world, and at Delfín, we want to be an important part of the solution. That's why we offer products from certified sustainable fishing to protect the sea and those you love most.
Are our products free of anisakis?
Deep-frozen products are not guaranteed to be free of anisakis, a parasite found in certain fish and shellfish. Deep-freezing can kill or inactivate anisakis, but if the parasite was already present before freezing, it may survive.
To reduce the risk of anisakis, it is recommended to follow proper product handling and cooking practices. This includes thoroughly thawing products in the refrigerator before cooking, cooking them to appropriate temperatures (e.g., 60°C in the center of the product for at least 1 minute), and handling them with clean utensils and surfaces to avoid cross-contamination.
What does it mean that our products may contain traces of fish, molluscs, crustaceans and sulfites?
You'll easily find information about the allergens present in each product on all our packaging. This information is especially useful for people with diagnosed allergies or for those who, after eating a particular food, begin to experience symptoms and need to know the cause. Of course, it's best to consult your doctor, as not everyone is allergic, nor do these allergens affect everyone in the same way.
All the allergens we declare in our products may be present as ingredients or may have shared space during the production process.
Which products contain gluten, egg, soy or other allergens?
All those that declare it on their packaging and on our website, but if in doubt, you should always consult your doctor. At Delfín, we pay special attention to the safety of our foods and work to inform you and help you choose the best option. We want eating to always be a pleasure.
Can you safely eat our products if you have food intolerances or allergies?

You can find this information on all our products, both on the packaging and on our website, but if in doubt, always consult your doctor. At Delfín, we pay special attention to the safety of our foods and work to inform you and help you choose the best option. We want eating to always be a pleasure.
In what cases do we use additives in our products?

What is drained weight?
Drained weight is the weight of the product after removing the protective layer of water added to protect it from possible temperature changes or other external agents, and which also helps preserve its texture and flavor intact.
Why do some products freeze with water?
The protective layer of water contributes to the hydration of the product during freezing and is added to protect it from possible temperature changes or other external agents, thus helping to preserve its texture and flavor intact.
About pregnancy and childhood
Are there any products you should avoid during pregnancy?
You should avoid large predatory fish, such as swordfish or mackerel. You should also avoid any fish and shellfish that hasn't been thoroughly cooked to more than 65°C. Also, when it comes to seafood, be very careful if you're eating it outside the home. And avoid eating or sucking the heads of shrimp, prawns, red shrimp, crayfish, and other crustaceans, as they tend to accumulate cadmium, a heavy metal present in marine waters.
What products are best for making baby food?
It's recommended to start with white fish such as hake, monkfish, or whiting. They promote growth, are easy to digest, and have a mild flavor.
At what age can children eat seafood?
Around two years of age, always consulting a pediatrician, especially if there is a family history of allergies.
At what age can children eat frozen products?
Deep-frozen foods maintain their nutritional and sensory properties as well as, or better than, fresh foods. They're also a practical and economical alternative. So, when it comes to diversifying your diet, don't hesitate to include them in your menu!
About ultra-freezing
What is ultra-freezing?
Deep-frozen food products are those that have undergone a rapid freezing process, during which they undergo abrupt cooling to rapidly reach maximum crystallization temperature in a time of no more than four hours. The process is completed once the food has been thermally stabilized at -18°C or lower. Once frozen, the product must be kept in cold storage at temperatures as low as possible, possibly as low as -35°C. The lower the storage temperature, the longer the shelf life of the frozen product.
If handled properly, with proper freezing and maintaining the cold chain, a food maintains all its nutritional and organoleptic qualities. Furthermore, freezing any food helps extend the time it takes for any vitamin to be lost.
What is the difference between ultra-freezing and freezing?
It's best to do it quickly, as this allows for a greater number of small ice crystals to form and maintain the food's natural texture and aroma. However, if freezing is done slowly, few large crystals form, which causes cellular tissue in the food to break down, resulting in a loss of texture during thawing.
